Rotary pyrolysis unit

Find out the price

GREENPOWER presents an advanced rotary drum-type pyrolysis unit, designed for continuous biomass carbonization by pyrolysis process. The charcoal production system eliminates the formation of liquid by-products of biomass pyrolysis and enables the certification of charcoal as biochar according to established Puro Earth standards.

NOTE: The system incorporates several proprietary engineering know-how solutions. To prevent plagiarism, certain design and process details are intentionally not disclosed publicly, but can be shared individually upon request under confidentiality.
Main Products of the Pyrolysis Process

1. Biochar (industrial eco charcoal). High-quality carbonized product with high carbon content value (depending requirements Cfix=78-92%), suitable for industrial applications and Puro Earth certification. Self-sustained operation – all technological stages, including biomass drying and pyrolysis processes, are carried out without the use of any external fuel, utilizing the energy of the produced pyrolysis gases.

2. Plant-sustained operation. All technological stages, including biomass drying and pyrolysis processes, are carried out without the use of any external fuel, utilizing the energy of the produced pyrolysis gases.

3. Excess energy. The system generates surplus thermal energy, which can be recovered into or electrical and used for auxiliary needs or external applications.

Working Principle

Biomass must be prepaired and after be dry with the drum dryer, is continuously fed into the rotary pyrolysis unit. Inside the oxygen-free pyrolysis chamber, the biomass undergoes complete thermal decomposition, producing combustible steam-pyrolysis gases and solid fixed carbon content products — biochar (industrial eco charcoal).

The pyrolysis steam gases are fed to the primary thermal oxidizer, where they are completely neutralized in a controlled manner to maintain the required temperature for both the drying and pyrolysis processes, enabling autonomous operation without external fuel. Excess thermal energy can be used for heating processes or converted into electricity..

The finished biochar is then transferred to a cooling unit, and after reaching a safe temperature, it is discharged and ready for packaging by consumers rules.

NOTE: The system can be optionally configured to include a condensation unit for obtaining liquid by-products such as wood tar, wood vinegar, and pyroligneous acids. However, it is important to consider that these products must be fully processed and properly disposed of; otherwise, the system will no longer qualify as an environmentally clean and sustainable solution by Puro Earth.
